It’s very easy to dismiss every new E.A. Sports yearly update as merely including some new players, strips and rosters – but there are always improvements being made that help keep their games one step ahead of the pack (FIFA has now gone the same way too, at last).
Madden NFL 10 comes with far too many new gameplay additions to list here, but the highlights have to be a much improved online mode and the "Fight For The Fumble" and PRO-TAK in-game features.
If you fancy the PlayStation 3 version, click here to buy it for £22.99 from Gameplay. XBox 360 owners can click here to get their release for the same price from the same retailer.
The third entry in the Fallout series, Fallout 3, is perhaps the best so far. It’s an action role-playing game with open-ended gameplay and a flexible character-levelling system, which makes it a bit better than other recent entries in the genre.
It takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States in the year 2277, and you play as a member of fallout shelter Vault 101. When your father goes missing, you decided to go out into the Capital Wasteland to search for him…

If loading screens, online lobbies, and game menus are annoying to you and you enjoy racing games, then I have a feeling you’ll love Burnout Paradise – it gets rid of all the guff and gets down to business the second you put in the disc.
To start a race or event, all you have to do is pull up at a set of traffic lights which are dotted around Paradise City. There’s also the option to race on motorcycles, which you can get by downloading an update from the PlayStation Network.
CoolShop have this PS3 title available for £12.98 – for more information, click here.
Resistance: Fall Of Man is a first-person shooter set in an alternate history 1951, and puts you in the role of Sergeant Nathan Hale as he and the human resistance forces attempt to drive a mysterious alien-like invasion out of Britain.
Even though it was a launch title, this still holds up as an excellent FPS – especially in the online multiplayer mode. The sequel, Resistance 2, has since been released (and is every bit as good as the original).

After being rumored for some time, the Sony PlayStation 3 120GB slim console was officially released the other day. Not only is this much smaller in size than the current 80GB model, but you also get an additional 40GB of hard drive space on which to store stuff.
The main criticism of this is that it looks a wee bit on the ugly side, but I’m sure that most people won’t give a damn! It consumes less power as well, which means you’ll be doing your bit for the environment (sort of).

Battlefield: Bad Company is another first-person shooter – before you run to the hills screaming "when will it end?", I should point out that it’s actually quite good. Maybe not as good as Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but still miles better than many other games in the genre.
The single player campaign is fairly standard stuff, however it’s the online multiplayer mode where this title comes into its own. With support for up to 24 players (!), I can only imagine how great the battles are.
The Hut are selling this PlayStation 3 title for £9.93 – click here for more details.
Ridge Racer 7 is exclusive to the PlayStation 3, but other console owners needn’t worry – it’s pretty average. It was one of the launch games, so it’s fair to cut it a little slack.
Choose from about 40 different cars to race around 22 courses, and then take it online and beat your friends. Heck, beat your enemies while you’re at it!
HMV have this game available for £6.99 – for more information, click here.
Kung Fu Panda is based on the film of the same name, and is aimed squarely at children. Progressing through the game unlocks more characters for you to control and use in the multiplayer modes.
As with many titles that have been released recently, this comes with a fair amount of mini-games to take part in. Even more characters can be unlocked when taking part in these as well.
Woolworths Entertainment are selling this PS3 title for £7.97 – click here for more details. Definitely one of those cheap games that adults will probably enjoy just as much as kids.
If the success of Skate took you by surprise, then imagine what the developers at E.A. thought – they initially predicted fewer sales than Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, only to beat it by quite some way on both the PlayStation 3 and XBox 360.
Skate 2 takes everything that was great about the game and improves upon it. There’s more tricks to pull off, the ability to choose your character’s sex, the ability to create your own "spots" to perform stunts on, and you can now edit your skateboard and clothing to your heart’s content.
