Little Big Planet £29.99

Little Big Planet is one of the most innovative games that I’ve seen in recent years, and one that could potentially last forever. And to think we all used to believe that Pong was amazing!

You control small avatars (known as Sackboys, due to their appearance) in a variety of platforming scenarios. There’s a set of pre-built levels to explore, but where this really comes into its own is with its customisable nature – your character and personal space can be altered, and you can also build new objects and levels which can then be shared and played with online.

Midnight Club: Los Angeles £24.99

As you will probably be able to tell by its title, Midnight Club: Los Angeles sees you racing all across Los Angeles on either cars or bikes. For some reason there are considerably fewer vehicles to choose from than before, with 43 cars and only 3 bikes.

Up to 16 players can race against each other online, which will be of some relief after tackling the rather difficult AI! A special mention should be made for the soundtrack, as there are some excellent tunes included from various hip-hop artists.

If you fancy this PlayStation 3 title, click here to buy it for £24.99 from Game. XBox 360 owners can click here to get their version for the same price from the same retailer.

PlayStation 3 80GB Console Deals

Since overcoming some initial problems, the PlayStation 3 has gone one to become one of the top consoles on the market today. With a growing catalogue of decent tiles, both this and the XBox 360 are streets ahead of the competition – let’s just hope that Nintendo pull their finger out and get some "A List" games out for the Wii!

There are two noteworthy PlayStation 3 80GB console deals available at the moment, both of which come with a copy of the excellent Little Big Planet.

Instore at Blockbuster you can pick up a console with copies of FIFA 09 and Little Big Planet, plus Iron Man on Blu-Ray, for £299.99. You also get £20 worth of free rentals, which is nice.

Meanwhile, over at Amazon you can get the console with a copy of Little Big Planet for £289.97. This is good enough, but at the moment you get a free HDMI cable, and for an extra £10 can choose a game to add to the package (from a very extensive list, that includes the new WWE title). Click here to see what it’s all about.

The great thing about Buzz! Quiz TV is that you’re not limited to what you get on the disc – there’s the chance to use other people’s content for your own enjoyment. Add this to a decent online multiplayer mode, and you have a near-perfect quiz game.

In the Buzz! Quiz TV: Special Edition box you get a copy of the game, four wireless buzzers, and two extra packs of questions (which normally retail for around £9 each on the PlayStation Store).

Pure £17.99

Although it’s quite fair to say that Pure isn’t the most in-depth game ever made, it has to be one of the most exciting. Not only does it look amazing, the tricks and stunts you can pull off look just as good.

It’s an off-road racer, by the way, that can either be played alone or against anyone from across the world via the wireless network. Great fun it is too.

Zavvi have both the PS3 (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) versions of this game available for £17.99 each.

WWE Smackdown Vs Raw games always make an appearance just before Christmas, and this year is no different. Although there aren’t too many new things in WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009, there’s enough to keep fans everywhere interested.

The Inferno match makes its debut, tag team matches have been revamped, and there are three new game modes – Create-A-Finisher, Road To WrestleMania, and Career. You may also be happy to hear that downloadable content is on the way, in the form of new wrestlers and attire (as well as "special in-game events", whatever that means).

Click here to buy the PlayStation 3 version for £29.99 from Argos (which also comes with a free Shawn Michaels DVD, while stocks last). This is one of those cheap games that will appeal to fans of the WWE and probably those who enjoy beat-em-ups too.

FIFA 09 From £14.93

As a longtime semi-fanboy of Pro Evolution, it almost pains me to say that this year’s FIFA is much better than PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer. Konami simply haven’t done enough to improve on the last one, whereas E.A. appear to be listening to what the fans want to see.

The "Be A Pro" mode is a great little idea, where you take control of one player throughout his career and help build up his stats. Combined with some excellent online multiplayer play, as well as the standard career options, this is football gaming at its best.

Click here to get the PS2 version for £14.93 from Asda. They also have the DS (click here) and PSP (click here) releases for the same price.

Wii owners can get their version for £17.73 from The Hut by clicking here, whilst HMV are selling the PlayStation 3 (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) releases for £24.99 each.

It was on the cards since last year, but FIFA has finally surpassed Pro Evolution Soccer in the fight for top football game. FIFA 09 is great fun in either single player or with a friend, and runs much faster than I remembered it did previously.

Goalkeepers have improved tremendously, and actually appear to want to save the ball – which has always been something of a problem in the past! The online mode is as good as ever, and "Be A Pro" has been extended to run for a total of four seasons.

If you fancy the PlayStation 2 version, click here to get it for £14.97 from Amazon – click here to get the PSP release for the same price from the same retailer.

Also at Amazon you can buy the PS3 (click here), Wii (click here), or XBox 360 (click here) versions for £22.97 each.

The PlayStation 3 originally had a 60GB hard drive, then a 40GB one was released, and now we have an 80GB console that replaces them both. How ruddy bloody confusing, especially with rumors that there will be an ever bigger hard drive at some point in the near future!

After some initial teething problems, the system has firmly established itself as one of the best around. Fanboys may argue until the sun goes down, but you can’t dispute that there are least a few very good titles available for it.

Argos are selling the PlayStation 3 80GB console, with two games, for £299.96 – but you have to do some clicking to get this price. Click here for the system, click here for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, click here for Little Big Planet, and click here for the PS3 Mega Pack (adding them all to the basket will make the total come to £299.96).

FIFA 09 £19.99

In the run up to Christmas last year, Play.com ran a "deal of the day" offer where there was one very good bargain to be had every single day of the week – and it appears as though it’s back again for 2008.

FIFA 09 is up for grabs for a top price until the end of Monday the 3rd of November, and it’s well worth picking up. Not only has it improved greatly since the last version, but it’s actually better than this year’s Pro Evolution! Shocking!

Click here to get the PlayStation 3 release, click here for the Wii version, or click here to buy the XBox 360 release – all of which are £19.99 each at Play.com.
