Cheap Games

The Lego Star Wars games were so popular that hopes were high some of the other big-screen hits would get the same treatment. Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is the first of two new Lego titles this year – the other being Lego Batman!

Play through all of the first three scenes, with comical interpretations of classic scenes and elements. Along the way you can unlock more than 60 different playable characters, which can then be mixed and matched to create new heroes (just like in Lego Star Wars).

Gameplay are selling this title on the PlayStation 3, Wii and XBox 360 for £29.99 each. If you spend over £30 though, you can get £5 off (just buy this gift wrap to take you over the threshold) by entering the voucher code gugheq6xe.

Therefore click here to get the PlayStation 3 version, click here for the Wii release or click here to buy the XBox 360 version – all for £25.98 each from Gameplay (when using the voucher code doo-dah above).

I can’t stand companies who rush shoddy games out so that they can get them on the shelves in time for big film releases. The stupid thing is that people buy them – why? 9 times out of 10 it will be a complete joke (look at The Golden Compass, for example)!

This brings me nicely to Iron Man. The film is not too bad, but the game is a big pile of crap! With graphics that would make early PlayStation 2 games look advanced, it’s really a big mess. Only fans and mentalists should even consider a purchase.

Click here to get the Wii version for £16.97, click here to buy the PSP release for £16.97, click here to get the PlayStation 3 version for £22.97, or click here to buy the XBox 360 release for £22.97 – all from the lovely chaps at Tesco.

Ninja Gaiden was a very good game for the original XBox – the sequel, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, is nowhere near as good as its predecessor. It was a launch title for the PlayStation 3, so I suppose that’s some sort of excuse. Kind of.

I must admit that the graphics are a big step up though, and it’s a bit harder to complete than the first game, but it still doesn’t match up to the heights of Ninja Gaiden.

If you fancy this, after considering what I’ve said, click here to buy it for £16.97 from Tesco.

Poker can be an expensive game if you don’t watch what you’re doing. Listen to me being the moral guardian – I actually don’t care if people spend money on poker, you only live once (or maybe twice, who knows)!

World Series Of Poker 2008: Battle For The Bracelets does exactly what it says on the tin and provides a fairly realistic game of poker. Climb your way up the ranks in your quest to win the championship bracelet.

Army Of Two From £19.96

In most games with the option, you can choose whether to play a solo mission or a two-player variation – in Army Of Two you have no choice but to work with a partner. I’d highly suggest getting a friend to play, as the computer is fairly crap.

If it’s not enough for you to defeat a whole heap of baddies, take it online and battle against other teams of players from all over the world via the wireless network.

Click here to buy the XBox 360 version for £19.96 from Amazon, or click here to pick up the PS3 release for £29.99 from ShopTo.

MotorStorm £11.99

The PlayStation 3 has been out for just over a year now, but MotorStorm still stands tall as one of the best racing games available for the console. It’s probably a lot to do with the excitement of the online multiplayer mode, I imagine.

An offroad racing title with a difference, this has fully destructible vehicles and environments, stunning scenery and real-time track deformation. This means that you can not only defeat your opponents, but blow them up as well – nice!

Grainger Games have this game available for £11.99 delivered – for more information, click here.

Turok £17.99

If you can remember Turok on the Nintendo 64, you probably have memories of it being quite a good cross between Jurassic Park and Call Of Duty. The newest title in the series continues this theme, but is sadly not as good as other first person shooters available on the market.

Playing as Jason Turok, your mission is to take down a war criminal – your former mentor, Roland Kane. Set on a planet inhabited by Kane and his soldiers, use your elite training to overcome not only them but the other creatures that populate the environment.

To get the PlayStation 3 release, click here – for the XBox 360 version, click here (both are £17.99 each at Play.com). Maybe not the greatest of cheap games, but the multiplayer mode is pretty good.

Do you care about mindless violence in video games? I didn’t think so, as it seems to be only people paranoid about everything who complain about them corrupting our minds. I for one would rather run over a prostitute in Grand Theft Auto IV than do the same thing in real life – surely that’s a good thing?

Anyway, you probably know all about this by now so there’s not much point in me trying to tell you what it’s all about. I can tell you that it’s probably the best game of the year so far though.

Click here to buy this PlayStation 3 title for £27.99 from Movietyme (this is a US release, but it will work perfectly fine on your PAL console – much the same as Haze will as well).

What with "social commentators" enjoying the abuse of gamers who happen to like violent games, perhaps Condemned 2 will make them a bit happier – the basic idea is to kill serial killers. Actually, that will probably make them angrier. Great.

This sequel to one of the debut titles on the XBox 360 is not quite as good as the original, but does have quite a good online multiplayer mode. Which is nice.

Click here to buy the PS3 version for £23.99 from Movietyme – this is a US release, but will work perfectly fine on your PAL console.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 £24.99

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 is the sequel to one of the best (in terms of multiplayer playability at least) games of recent times. This time it’s up to your team to stop Alvarez Cabrero from turning Las Vegas into a burning inferno.

This signals the end of Rainbow Six’s time in Vegas, but here’s hoping that they come back again some time in the not too distant future. Rainbow Six: Blackpool would be a good one.

Click here to get the PlayStation 3 version, or click here to buy the XBox 360 release – both of which are £24.99 each at Play.com.
