Mercenaries 2: World In Flames From £19.99

The gaming world is full of average third-person shooters, so what harm will another one do? Mercenaries 2: World In Flames created a bit of controversy recently when the makers gave away petrol in London, as it caused massive tailbacks. This still doesn’t disguise the fact that the game is pants.

It’s quite unique that you can choose who to work for, and there’s over 130 different vehicles to choose from - but these, combined with an OK online multiplayer mode, don’t make an average game good.

Click here to get the PS2 release for £19.99 from ShopTo. Alternatively, click here if you want to get the PlayStation 3 version, or click here for the XBox 360 release - both of which are £27.99 from the same retailer.

You could actually pay less if you use the ShopTo £1 voucher, which I keep forgetting to mention.

Medal Of Honor: Airborne takes place in the European theater of World War II and is the first in the series to focus on the activities of the paratrooper division.

Single-player missions include insertions into Italy, northern France, Holland, and Germany. There’s also an online multiplayer mode where you can fight for the Allies, or for the Axis (where you defend the position from enemy paratroopers).

To buy the XBox 360 version of this game for £9.89 from Sendit.com, simply click here. PlayStation 3 owners can click here to get their release for the slightly higher price of £12.89 from the same retailer,

When you buy an XBox 360 you more often than not get a wireless controller included. However, most people need more than one for when friends or family fancy joining in.

Click here to get the XBox 360 Wireless Controller (Pink) for £17.84 from Blah DVD.

I have to admit that this one is much easier to use than the original XBox controller was - it was bloody massive, and a bit too fiddly to be honest with you.

To buy the XBox 360 Wireless Controller (Light Blue) for £17.86 from Blah DVD, simply click here.

The XBox 360 Wireless Controller (White) is the one that most will already have, unless you’ve bought an XBox 360 Elite. It’s exactly the same as all the rest, except has no colouring - wonderful.

Game are selling this as part of an offer where if you buy it with anything else, you get it for £19.99. Simply add this wrapping to your order, and the total will come to £20.98.

Click here to take advantage of this.

Personally, I like the look of the XBox 360 Wireless Controller (Black). The only other way to get it is if you buy an XBox 360 Elite console, so it’s worth looking at this deal.

It’s available as part of the same offer as the white one, so add this same wrapping to your order to get it for a grand total of £20.98.

If you fancy this, click here to visit the Game website for more details.

The 2K series of games are quite interesting as they are often much cheaper than you’d expect a next-generation title to be, but without sacrificing any quality. Me thinks that E.A. could learn a thing or two…

Every player’s play style has been captured for the first time in a simulation game, with trademark celebrations as well as shot and dribble styles been accurately recreated.

Click here to buy this XBox 360 title for just £4.99 from ShopTo. In fact, you could use the ShopTo £1 voucher and get it for just £3.99 - even better!

Burnout: Paradise £19.99

Burnout: Paradise is different from many other driving games, as it features an open world where you can pretty much race wherever you want. There’s also no loading screens, online lobbies, or game menus - this is because the makers of the game hate unnecessary clutter with a passion.

Races and events are started by simply pulling up at any of the 120 traffic lights around Paradise City and applying the accelerator and brake at the same time. A nice little extra thing is that you can also get bikes to race on by simply connecting to the online network and downloading an update.

If you fancy the PlayStation 3 version, click here to get it for £19.99 from Gamestation. The good news extends to XBox 360 owners as well, as they can get their release for the same price by clicking here.

After Sunday’s "most XBox 360 console offers in the world…ever!", I stupidly though that we wouldn’t seem any more worth mentioning for a while - how wrong I was.

The XBox 360 Arcade is the smallest of three different console sizes available, and is probably most suited to younger gamers or those new to gaming in general. It comes with a 256MB memory card, wireless controller, and five free games from the XBox Live Marketplace (Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man and Uno).

Instore at Blockbuster you can get this, together with copies of Halo 3 and Project Gotham Racing 4, for £129.99.

Alternatively, head to the nearest Toys R Us for an even better deal. They have the Arcade bundle with copies of Project Gotham Racing 4, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and Viva Piñata for the same price of £129.99.

No matter which way you look at it, Half-Life 2: The Orange Box represents fantastic value for money. There’s five games in this collection, and every single one of them is a belter - with puzzle game Portal being the best of the bunch.

The other titles are Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and Team Fortress 2. All these first-person shooters are fairly similar, although the last one is actually a multiplayer team-based affair.

Sendit.com are selling this PlayStation 3 title for £12.89 - for more information, click here. If you’re after the XBox 360 version, click here to get it for £14.99 from ShopTo.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 £27.98

Every year brings with it some guarantees - the weather will be awful, Newcastle United will be in turmoil, and there will be a new Tiger Woods game. I wonder what will happen when he retires?

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 has a few new features that look quite good though. Tiger Woods’ real-life coach Hank Haney acts as your performance coach, clubs can be tuned to maximise the effectiveness of every shot, and the online mode has an all-new engine (it performs much better).

Game are selling both the PS3 and XBox 360 versions for £29.99, but we can get them for lower than this. Add either game to your basket, along with this wrapping, and enter the voucher code NW04GME4 to knock £3 off the total.

Click here to get the PlayStation 3 release, or click here to buy the XBox 360 version for £27.98 (when using the method above) - either one of these cheap games are well worth getting, by the way.

The purpose of the XBox 360 Wireless Network Adapter is to allow you to connect to XBox Live without having loads of wires all over the place. This becomes especially useful if your 360 is kept in a bedroom for peace and quiet when you play any cheap games you buy.

Usually this accessory is very expensive, but Game have an offer running where you get it for £44.99 when buying anything else. Simply add this wrapping to your order to meet this requirement.

However, we can get it even lower than this by entering the voucher code NW04GME4 at the checkout - this knocks £3 off, and brings the total to a respectable £42.98. Click here to get this.

With a price-drop happening this past Friday, there’s been a fair few decent deals appeared both online and on the high street. Because of this, I’ve titled this post "the most XBox 360 console offers in the world…ever!" - and I’m not joking.

I’ve separated the deals out into three different sections - one for the Arcade, one for the Premium, and one for the Elite.

The XBox 360 Arcade is the most basic of all packages available, as it doesn’t come with a hard drive. What you do get though is a 256MB memory unit, a wireless controller, and five free games from the XBox Live Marketplace.

Titles included are Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man and Uno.

Game have a few different packages available for £129.99:

XBox 360 Arcade with Battlefield: Bad Company

XBox 360 Arcade with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

XBox 360 Arcade with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09

XBox 360 Arcade with Viva Piñata: Trouble In Paradise

Instore at Blockbuster you can get the system with a copy of Mercenaries 2: World In Flames for £139.98. They also have the Arcade together with any other game for £149.99.

Finally, Amazon have a few bundles of their own. Click here to buy the console by itself for £119.98, or to have a look at the other deals that have at the moment (including Gears Of War or Halo 3 for £10, or a selected title for £20 when you buy the system).

When the XBox 360 Premium was originally released it came with a 20GB hard drive. Not too long ago though Microsoft decided to bump it up to a 60GB hard drive, which means more space to store useless crap useful stuff.

This also comes with a wireless controller, a built-in upscaling DVD player, and an XBox Live headset.

Argos have the console with a copy of Halo 3 priced at £169.97 - click here for more details (click on the "Special offers" tab to get it).

Instore at Blockbuster you can get the system with a copy of Mercenaries 2: World In Flames for £179.98. They also have the Premium together with any other game for £189.99.

Pop in to Gamestation and pick up the console with a choice of 2 free titles for £169.89. Games to choose from include Dead Or Alive 4, Forza Motorsport 2, Halo 3, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, and Too Human.

Click here to get the system by itself for £159.98 from Amazon. This link will also take to you to a page where you can get Gears Of  War or Halo 3 for £10, or a choice of selected game for an extra £20.

The top-end choice for XBox 360 gamers is the XBox 360 Elite. It comes all in black, and features a huge 120GB hard drive - the rest of it is essentially the same as the Premium.

I realise it can be a little confusing with all the different packages available, but I would recommend this one to the serious gamer only (the Arcade is suitable for newcomers, and the Premium is for everyone else).

Instore at Blockbuster you can get the system with a copy of Mercenaries 2: World In Flames for £239.98. They also have the Premium together with any other game for £249.99.

Pop in to Gamestation and pick up the console with a choice of 2 free titles for £229.99. Games to choose from include Dead Or Alive 4, Forza Motorsport 2, Halo 3, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, and Too Human. Alternatively, they also have a deal where you get the XBox 360 Wireless Network Adaptor and a 3 month subscription to XBox Live for the same price (instead of getting any games).

To buy the system by itself for £219.98 from Amazon, click here. This link takes you to a page that lists all of their XBox 360 Elite deals (including Gears Of War or Halo 3 for £10, or a selected title for £20 when you buy the system).

HMV’s instore deal of the week is the console with copies of Grand Theft Auto IV and Halo 3, as well as an XBox 360 Wireless Network Adaptor, for £269.99.

Phew! Hope I don’t have to go through that again any time soon…
