If you’re more of a casual fan of ice hockey, then NHL 2K8 is perhaps more suitable than the harder-to-play NHL series from E.A. That’s not to say that this is too easy, just that the controls take less time to get used to.
This version has a few new improvements over NHL 2K7 with the main ones being improved goalies, a new face-off system, better graphics, authentic equipment, and a new skating engine.

Getting a console is all well and good, but it’s nice when you get a game or two thrown in when you buy it. I suppose that’s where Nintendo got the Wii right, bundling it with a copy of Wii Sports.
Anyway, the XBox 360 Elite is the 360 with the biggest hard drive available (120GB) and comes completely in black. As do the controller and headset, so you have a totally matching set to play all your cheap games on.
Gamestation have improved an already very good offer by letting you get an extra game - now you get the system with a copy of Ninja Gaiden II and three from Dead Or Alive 4, Forza Motorsport 2, Gears Of War, Lost Odyssey, or Project Gotham Racing 4. If this deal sounds good to you, click here to buy it for £259.99.
Normally with expansion packs you need to own the original, but thankfully with Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath you don’t need to have a copy of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars - phew!
This real-time strategy game returns to the Tiberium Universe with Kane at the centre of an epic new single-player campaign spanning 20 years, from the rebirth of the Brotherhood of Nod after the Second Tiberium War through to the dramatic events of the Third Tiberium War and beyond.
Game have this XBox 360 title available for £19.99 - for more information, click here.

The Olympics have been over for a couple of weeks, but you can try and recreate any of your favourite events in the Beijing 2008 video game. Heck, why not try and equal Michael Phelps’ record? For good measure, do it with a British swimmer!
For the very first time in an Olympic game you can take on other players around the world via the online multiplayer mode. This is something that has been anticipated for many years, so it’s great we finally get the option.
Click here to buy the PlayStation 3 release, or click here to get the XBox 360 version - both are £23.99 each at ShopTo.
The differences between the regular version of Call Of Duty 3 and Call Of Duty 3: Gold Edition are that you get a bonus DVD filled with interesting stuff on how the game was made and a token for a free map with the Gold Edition. Nice to have, I suppose.
The title itself is a third-person shooter (yes, another one) modeled after the Normandy breakout, where the American, British, Canadian, Polish, and French Resistance forces pushed into Chambois. After finishing the single player campaign, be sure to check out the online multiplayer mode as this is where Call Of Duty really comes into its own.
ShopTo are selling this XBox 360 game for £11.99 - click here for more details. If you’re after Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, it’s still £29.99 at Argos.

If you’re getting a bit sick of third-person shooters, I’m afraid you’ll bite my head off for mentioning Army Of Two. At least this one has a unique feature, as you have to use coordinated teamwork in order to accomplish the game’s goals - try and get a friend to play with you, as the computer is a bit shit to be honest.
Weapons can be fully customised using money acquired as you progress, and a semi-decent online multiplayer mode is also included. This is unlike standard deathmatch modes, because you have to watch each other’s backs and work together to defeat the opposing team.
Click here to get the PlayStation 3 version, or click here to buy the XBox 360 release - both of which are £17.99 each over at base.com.

NBA 2K6 is very much showing its age now, which isn’t too surprising considering it came out in 2005. When you see how cheap it is though, you might consider a purchase to serve as an introduction to how the series plays - the controls have never really changed, you see.
For all you achievement mentalists out there, this also acts as a very easy way to rack up an extra 1,000 points. I believe that you can get them all within as little as one match!
Click here to get the XBox 360 version of this game for just £4.99 from Game, or click here to buy the original XBox release for £7.49 from Forget The Rest. Well worth picking up to see how these cheap games play, like I said before.

Forza Motorsport 2 is a racing simulator game, as you can probably tell by both the title and looking at the boxart. There’s over 300 cars to choose from, with even more available for you to download via XBox Live, and a total of 14 different tracks to race them on.
Where this really comes into its own though is with the online multiplayer mode. Racing your friends all over the world has never been so much fun, and the added bonus of tournaments make this as good as Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in terms of addictiveness.
If you fancy this XBox 360 title, click here to get it for just £6.99 from The Game Collection.

NHL 2K6 was actually the very first ice hockey simulation title to be released on the XBox 360. Considering that it came out in 2005, you can imagine that it’s since been surpassed by other games in the genre - it does make a cheap introduction to the series though.
I should probably warn you that there’s an annoying bug in the game, in which it freezes (surely not intentionally!) when you use the hard drive. To get round this either remove the hard drive when playing, or download the patch from XBox Live.
To get this 360 title from Game for £4.99, simply click here. PS2 owners should click here if they wish to get their version for £5.85 from Blah DVD.

As far as basketball games go, the 2K series is right up there with anything E.A. have to offer. In fact, it would be fair to say that they’re actually often BETTER than NBA Live (insert year here).
NBA 2K7 came out in 2006, so the rosters will be quite old - however, the price is low enough to warrant a purchase to get to grips with how it plays.
Click here to buy this XBox 360 game for £4.99 from Game. Or you could click here to get the XBox version for £7.98 (as long as you spend £15 or more, otherwise it’s £9.97 delivered) from Amazon, or click here to buy the PlayStation 3 release for £10.99 from WH Smith.
