Burnout: Paradise £19.98

Burnout: Paradise is one of the best racing games available on either the PlayStation 3 or XBox 360. I think that the ability to absolutely destroy your own car and others around you is one of the things that make it so good.

Even with the appearance of Race Driver: Grid (which is still priced at £29.99, by the way), the online mode alone is worth buying this for. The chance to smash up your friends around the world is something I myself cherish dearly. I am a bit weird though.

To get the PS3 version click here, or for the XBox 360 release click here - both of which are £19.98 delivered each from DVD.co.uk.

Lost Odyssey £14.99

If you fancy an epic journey, but either don’t have the funds or are otherwise unable to do so then you could always try Lost Odyssey. Even though it’s a game, the journey is still the same. Or something.

Knicking bits from titles such as World Of Warcraft and blending them into the traditional role-playing system, you can make strategic decisions which give a more immersive and deep gameplay experience.

UPDATE: You can in fact get Lost Odyssey for £12.50, as DVD.co.uk are running a "buy 2 XBox 360 games for £25" offer and it’s in it. Other titles include Bioshock and Timeshift. Click here for the full list.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 £14.96

It’s quite fitting that the world’s best golfer lends his name to the world’s best golf video game - I am, of course, talking about Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08. The latest in the series is very probably the best so far.

There’s everything you’d come to expect with a Tiger Woods title, along with a brand new feature - the EA Sports GamerNet. Here you can post your best moments and challenge other players around the planet to try and beat you. Bring it on!

uWish have the XBox 360 version of this game available for £14.96 - click here for more details.

Natural resources are diminishing and economies are tumbling into chaos - no, it’s not real-life (although it does sound like it!) but a depressing look at the future through the eyes of Frontlines: Fuel Of War.

As society succumbs to a worldwide energy crisis, two superpower alliances emerge - this is where you come in, as a fighter for either the Western Coalition or the Red Star Alliance.

Lost: The Video Game £9.99

Wellity, wellity, wellity - here’s me complaining that developers do shoddy work on film tie-ins, when in reality they also do the same for games based on TV shows!

On paper, Lost: The Video Game should be excellent - in reality, it’s incredibly average. Fans will get the most enjoyment from the experience, but I have a feeling that everyone else will just feel a bit disappointed.

Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom £11.99

Why oh why do developers start messing about with things that already work perfectly well? The Kingdom Under Fire series has traditionally been action real-time strategy based - however, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom is a hack and slash RPG. Not a good idea.

I suppose that the ability to join up with friends over XBox Live is a nice addition, but it’s really not enough to warrant a purchase. If you’re a fan of the series you may want to take a look though.

In amongst the seemingly endless supply of first-person shooters lies one of the best games of 2007, Bioshock. This XBox 360 exclusive title succeeds where others fail by being unpredictable and exciting, something sorely lacking in many modern-day games.

As you venture through the game, you must genetically modify your body in order to advance - at this point I should warn the squeamish that some of the abilities you get are quite disgusting. You have been warned!

The Game Collection have reduced the price of this title to £9.95 - click here for more details.

How much do I love Guitar Hero, let me count the ways… I’m not going to do that, as I’d be here all day (and I’d bore you half to death in the process) - what I will say that it’s one of the best series of games in quite some time.

The basic premise behind the game is to strum along in time to the music, just as you would with a real guitar - except that this one doesn’t have strings, but buttons instead.

Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock is the latest in the series (well technically Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is, but hey ho!) and is available for £44.71 instore at Tesco. The good news is that it comes with a wireless guitar, the better news is that this price is valid for all console releases (PlayStation 3, XBox 360 and Wii).

UPDATE: The PlayStation 2 version is also available for the same price.

One of the best driving games this year has undoubtedly been Race Driver: Grid. With some of the best graphics seen yet, as well as a great racing experience, this comes very highly recommended.

Play.com have their own Race Driver: Grid - Special Edition which contains a copy of the game, a "making of" DVD, and a hardback artbook. Oh yes, and an exclusively unlockable car as well - the Aston Martin DBR9 (get it by entering the code P47203845).

Click here to buy the PlayStation 3 release, or click here for the XBox 360 version - both of which are £29.99 each.
