Out of the three different 360 packages available, the XBox 360 Arcade seems to have the most amount of offers. It is quite a basic set, but it’s the only one to come with games in the box (OK they’re off the XBox Live Marketplace, but they’re still games!). You can also still get an XBox 360 20GB hard drive for £12.99 from Microsoft, which makes it as good as the older Premium version.
I think I should highlight all of the recent bundles to go along with today’s XBox 360 Arcade deals. Yesterday saw the reappearance of the XBox 360 Arcade, with a copy of PES 2009, for £129.99 from Currys (who also have a bundle with Fable II for the same price). And also a couple of days ago there was the XBox 360 Arcade with two games for £130 from Zavvi.
Game have three different packages available for £129.99 each, and these are:
XBox 360 Arcade with a copy of Fallout 3
XBox 360 Arcade with a copy of FIFA 09
XBox 360 Arcade with copies of Project Gotham Racing 4 and Sega Superstars Tennis
I’ve been an on/off fan of professional wrestling for as long as I can remember, right back to when Hulk Hogan was capable of having watchable matches and Vince McMahon was just a commentator (OK he still owned the company, but didn’t have an on-screen role as owner).
WCW was the WWF’s main competitor for may years, until they sunk without a trace and the WWE bought what was left of it. Since then, many companies have tried to fill the void left by WCW but only one has even succeeded a little bit - TNA.
TNA: iMPACT! is their very first video game, but it’s sadly an incredibly mediocre outing. All of the big stars (like Kurt Angle, Christian Cage, Samoa Joe, and Sting) are present and the graphics look great, but it gets very repetitive and it’s far too easy when playing against the computer.
Click here to get the PS3 version, or click here for the XBox 360 release - both of which are £17 each at Zavvi. It’s one of those cheap games to get if you’re a fan, but for everyone else it’s probably worth waiting until the price goes down even more.
The XBox 360 Arcade bundle is the smallest of the three that you can get, but it does come with five titles from the XBox Live Marketplace - namely Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man and Uno.
Microsoft are also still giving owners of this console the opportunity to get an XBox 360 20GB hard drive for the bargain price of £12.99, which is nice of them.
Instore at Zavvi you can get the XBox 360 Arcade, with two games, for £130. The two titles in question are rather good too, being that they are Halo 3 and Lost Odyssey.
Without question, the Guitar Hero series needs next to no introduction - every single title thus far has been well worth getting, and I have no doubts that the next one will be even better (as they’re going down the same road as Rock Band, with drums and singing).
Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock (with a wireless guitar) is the first to appear on the Wii, and what a debut it is. With some great tunes to rock out to, plus a great online multiplayer mode, this is top drawer entertainment.
Click here to buy the Wii version, or click here for the XBox 360 release - both of which are £49.99 each at Argos.
It’s also worth pointing out that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith (with a wireless guitar) is still £49.98 at Gamestation, although I believe the Wii version is out of stock.
It’s a little surprising to see so many decent console bundles around this close to Christmas, but I’m not complaining for a second - not least because I’m sure that we’ll hear of stock shortages in the next month or two.
I’m also going to do something that’s very rare on the Internet and give Microsoft some praise, as they recently bumped the size of the hard drive in the Premium system from 20GB up to 60GB.
Instore at Gamestation you can pick up an XBox 360 60GB Premium (with Fable II and FIFA 09) for £179.99. Anyone after a bigger console could go for the XBox 360 Elite with two games (the same ones as this package actually), as it’s still £229.99 at HMV.

With downloadable content on the way very soon, the XBox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV is ever so slightly better than the PS3 one. That being said, it really wouldn’t surprise me to see the stuff appear on the PlayStation Network at some point in the future as well.
There’s not really much more I can tell you about the game that you probably don’t already know, but I will say to look out for a couple of things - Ricky Gervais in the comedy club, and the ability to turn into a zombie!
HMV are selling this title for £24.99 - for more information, click here.
If there’s one criticism you could have about the Pro Evolution series, it’s that they haven’t yet got the online multiplayer mode quite right. That’s really the only thing that stops PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer from being "excellent" rather than "great".
Two new modes are included with this year’s entry, in the form of UEFA Champions League (complete with all the elements and attributes of the competition) and "Become A Legend" - the latter being a brilliant idea, as you control one player throughout his career.
Click here to get the PlayStation 3 release, or click here for the XBox 360 version - both of which are £27.99 each at HMV.
MX Vs ATV: Untamed is an off-road racing game that includes a huge amont of different modes to choose from. Motocross, Opencross, Supercross, Supermoto, Endurcross, and Mini-bikes are just some of what’s on offer.
It’s quite easy to pick and play as well, which means that anyone of any age should get some amount of fun from playing. It’s just a shame that there’s no sign of any online multiplayer, but there is an offline one that at least goes some way to rectifying this oversight.
To buy the PlayStation 2 version for £10.49 from SoftUK, click here. PS3 owners can get their release for £14.89 from Sendit.com by clicking here, or Wii owners can click here to buy the game for £12.99 from Game. Finally, XBox 360 gamers can get their version for £18.99 from SoftUK by clicking right here.
Phew!
It’s been said that if you’ve played one Tiger Woods game, you don’t need to play any more - I disagree with this statement. Every year the difficulty level does go up a bit, and, anyway, the online mode gets better and better (and is probably worth getting this for alone).
Tiger’s real life coach appears in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 to give you hints and tips, but is more of a gimmick than any real help. There’s one or two other tweaks been made as well that improve the overall gameplay, and there’s also a fully updated roster of golfers to choose to play with.
Pop in to Asda and pick up the XBox 360 version for £24.99.
The XBox 360 Elite is considered the package of choice for all of the hardcore gamers out there. To be honest, the only real difference between this and the Premium is the size of the hard drive - this has a massive 120GB one, which should be more than enough for anyone.
It’s also the only XBox 360 console which comes in a different colour, with a completely black finish. Even the wireless controller and headset are black, so it’s all co-ordinated. How lovely.
HMV have the XBox 360 Elite, with two games, available for £229.99 - click here for more details (scroll down a bit to find it). Oh yeah, and the two free titles are FIFA 09 and the just-recently-released Fable II.
