It’s now quite a difficult choice to make when it comes to football games, with FIFA 09 being on a par with PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer. Well done EA for finally seeing that shoving out the same game every year with small updates was a bad idea!

This year’s release comes with the usual smattering of new additions, the best of which looks like the pay-based Adidas Live Season. It updates player stats on a weekly basis, but costs £4.99 per league (or £12.99 for all six leagues available).

With FIFA improving every year, there’s increasing pressure on the Pro Evolution Soccer team to come up with fresh ideas to keep them ahead. With PES 2009: Pro Evolution Soccer, there’s one or two new things which add more to the game than ever before.

You can now change your tactics to adjust to specific situations, off-the-ball movement has been improved, and things like the heaviness of the ground can affect gameplay. There’s a couple of new modes too in the form of UEFA Champions League (with all the elements and attributes you’d expect) and Be A Legend (where you control a particular player throughout his career).

ShopTo are selling the PlayStation 3 version for £32.99 - for more information on this cheap games‘ availability, click here. The XBox 360 release is also the same price, from the same retailer, and you can get it by clicking here.

Although the Project Gotham Racing and Gran Turismo series’ have been ahead of the pack for some time, there’s a new contender on the scene in the form of Race Driver: Grid - and it’s quite possibly better than both of them.

It’s a hybrid of arcade and simulation racing, and comes with a total of 43 different vehicles to choose from. A brilliant innovation is the instant replay feature which lets you rewind time by 1o seconds, allowing you to see in real-time any moments that you deem worthy of seeing again.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars £14.98

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is the sequel to PC title Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, but is set in the same universe as Quake II and Quake 4 - just to confuse the heck out of everybody! There’s also a minimal back-story which serves as a prequel to Quake II thrown in for good measure.

The graphics on the next-generation console versions are nowhere near as good as the PC release, which is a bit disappointing. However, if you enjoy multiplayer-based shoot-em-ups then I’m sure you’ll like this one too.

First off, an apology - the site hasn’t been updated for some 12 days now, as I’ve had the flu. You’ll be glad to hear that I’m better now, so expect updates every day from now on. Great.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, with a wireless guitar, is the first band-specific title in the series and features songs not only by Aerosmith themselves, but other groups they have toured with or who have influenced them in some way.

Gamestation have the PlayStation 3 version available for £49.98 - click here for more details. You may also be interested to learn that the Wii (click here) and XBox 360 (click here) releases are also the same price.

You may or may not have heard about the Sainsburys console offers that allegedly start today and end on Monday the 13th of October.

If you pop instore then you might be able to pick up the following:

Nintendo Wii £149.97
XBox 360 Arcade Pack £99.97
XBox 360 60GB Premium Pack £139.97

As I said, this is unconfirmed - however as soon as I get word that it’s 100% true, I’ll let you know.

UPDATE: This has now been confirmed as officially running. Stocks will be flying out the door, but I’d expect that deliveries should be fairly frequent to keep up with the demand. Expect ads to appear in the newspapers tomorrow as well.

One of the most popular series’ in recent times has been Guitar Hero, although the appearance of Rock Band has at least given it some competition. Both are fantastic in their own ways, with each having a great variety of songs to play along to.

Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock is the last guitar-only title in the series (Guitar Hero: World Tour will include drums, etc) and includes some great tunes to rock out to - Guns N’ Roses, The Sex Pistols, and The Rolling Stones are just a few of the featured artists.

Click here to buy the Wii version for £30.67, click here to get the PS3 release for £33.67, or click here to buy the XBox 360 version for the same price of £33.67 - all from Amazon.

Oh, I should also point out that these also come with wireless guitars. This makes this particular post one of the very top bargains I’ve seen this year - seriously outstanding value for money.

Warriors Orochi 2 £14.93

Warriors Orochi is a crossover game between the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series’, and Warriors Orochi 2 is the sequel to it. I should also point out that it’s only been out for a couple of weeks, which makes this price look slightly surprising.

After the events of the first game, the new land that was created found peace. However, former Orochi army officers (as well as many others who have nothing to do with Orochi) have broken away and formed their own armies. When a plan to bring back the Serpent King is discovered, a new group of warriors must join forces with history’s finest in battle to stop this evil resurrection.

Asda are selling this XBox 360 title for £14.93 - for more information, click here.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 £22.97

The price of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 seems to be getting lower and lower with every passing day, but this isn’t to say that it’s a bad game - far from it in fact, as it’s probably better than Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08. Proof positive that not all cheap games that have been out a short time are crap!

You may be glad to hear that the online mode has been improved a great deal, and is now a much better experience all round. You’ll be slightly less glad to hear that Tiger Woods’ real-life coach is on-hand to give advice if and when you need it.

Click here to get the PlayStation 3 version, or click here for the XBox 360 release - both of which are £22.97 each at Amazon.

FIFA 09 From £19.71

FIFA 09 is the newest entry in the long-running series of football games. It comes with a few new features, including improved responsiveness from players and a completely revamped collision system (which means that stronger players should be able to hold off others for longer).

Thank the Lord that goalkeepers have also been improved, with better positioning and reactions to saves. Evening games should feel more realistic as well, because the sky changes from light to dark while you’re playing.

To buy the PlayStation 2 version for £19.71 from Tesco, simply click here (and enter voucher code Freedel at the checkout to save on postage). PS3 and XBox 360 owners can get their releases for £29.71 instore at Tesco.
