FIFA 09 From £19.71

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed - to do this, simply click here. Thanks for visiting!

FIFA 09 is the newest entry in the long-running series of football games. It comes with a few new features, including improved responsiveness from players and a completely revamped collision system (which means that stronger players should be able to hold off others for longer).

Thank the Lord that goalkeepers have also been improved, with better positioning and reactions to saves. Evening games should feel more realistic as well, because the sky changes from light to dark while you’re playing.

To buy the PlayStation 2 version for £19.71 from Tesco, simply click here (and enter voucher code Freedel at the checkout to save on postage). PS3 and XBox 360 owners can get their releases for £29.71 instore at Tesco.

Yes, I’m aware that we already featured the XBox 360 version of Half-Life 2: The Orange Box for £14.99 the other day. However, the PlayStation 3 version was lower than this - but has since sold out at the £12.93 pricepoint. Sad times.

It’s well worth picking this title up, by the way, as you’re getting five games in one. Not only are there Half-Life 2 and two expansion packs, but one of the best games of 2007 in Portal. Also included is team-based multiplayer Team Fortress 2.

ShopTo have the 360 release for £14.99 - click here for more details. Click here if you’re interested in the PS3 version, which is the same price from the same retailer.

There’s a Sendit.com mini games sale on at the moment that seems worth mentioning. Only PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 titles are included, by the way.

We’ve already featured Medal Of Honor: Airborne from £9.89, but here’s the rest…

PS3

Fight Night Round 3 £12.89
Madden NFL 08 £12.89
Need For Speed: Prostreet £12.89
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 £12.89

XBox 360

Fight Night Round 3 £9.89
Madden NFL 08 £9.89
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 £9.89

One of the most realistic motorbike experiences you can have, this side of not killing yourself in the process, is with the SBK series of games. SBK 08: Superbike World Championship is the newest addition, and has more to offer than ever before.

Not only are there five racing styles to choose from, as well as six game modes, but there’s also a great little online mode. It’s so good that it’s easy to compare to more well known games like Forza 2, in all honesty.

Click here to buy this PSP title for £15 from Simply Games. Other versions are available for slightly more, including the XBox 360 for £17 from the same retailer (click here) or the PlayStation 3 release for £19.99 from Woolworths (click here).

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 From £24.99

If you’ve always wanted to learn some tips from Tiger Woods’ real-life coach, then now’s your chance - in a virtual sense, of course. Hank Haney offers tips, advice, and challenges that help to improve your skills.

There’s also the other usual little improvements graphics and gameplay wise, and this time the online mode has been improved to give a much better experience. All in all cheap games like this may not seem better than the previous entry in the series, however there’s enough new additions to warrant a look.

Play.com are selling the Wii version for £24.99 - for more information click here. They also have the XBox 360 release for the same price by clicking here, or click here to get the PlayStation 3 version for £27.99 from ShopTo (not forgetting to use the good old ShopTo £1 voucher, if you haven’t already).

Mercenaries 2: World In Flames From £19.99

The gaming world is full of average third-person shooters, so what harm will another one do? Mercenaries 2: World In Flames created a bit of controversy recently when the makers gave away petrol in London, as it caused massive tailbacks. This still doesn’t disguise the fact that the game is pants.

It’s quite unique that you can choose who to work for, and there’s over 130 different vehicles to choose from - but these, combined with an OK online multiplayer mode, don’t make an average game good.

Click here to get the PS2 release for £19.99 from ShopTo. Alternatively, click here if you want to get the PlayStation 3 version, or click here for the XBox 360 release - both of which are £27.99 from the same retailer.

You could actually pay less if you use the ShopTo £1 voucher, which I keep forgetting to mention.

Medal Of Honor: Airborne takes place in the European theater of World War II and is the first in the series to focus on the activities of the paratrooper division.

Single-player missions include insertions into Italy, northern France, Holland, and Germany. There’s also an online multiplayer mode where you can fight for the Allies, or for the Axis (where you defend the position from enemy paratroopers).

To buy the XBox 360 version of this game for £9.89 from Sendit.com, simply click here. PlayStation 3 owners can click here to get their release for the slightly higher price of £12.89 from the same retailer,

When you buy an XBox 360 you more often than not get a wireless controller included. However, most people need more than one for when friends or family fancy joining in.

Click here to get the XBox 360 Wireless Controller (Pink) for £17.84 from Blah DVD.

I have to admit that this one is much easier to use than the original XBox controller was - it was bloody massive, and a bit too fiddly to be honest with you.

To buy the XBox 360 Wireless Controller (Light Blue) for £17.86 from Blah DVD, simply click here.

The XBox 360 Wireless Controller (White) is the one that most will already have, unless you’ve bought an XBox 360 Elite. It’s exactly the same as all the rest, except has no colouring - wonderful.

Game are selling this as part of an offer where if you buy it with anything else, you get it for £19.99. Simply add this wrapping to your order, and the total will come to £20.98.

Click here to take advantage of this.

Personally, I like the look of the XBox 360 Wireless Controller (Black). The only other way to get it is if you buy an XBox 360 Elite console, so it’s worth looking at this deal.

It’s available as part of the same offer as the white one, so add this same wrapping to your order to get it for a grand total of £20.98.

If you fancy this, click here to visit the Game website for more details.

The 2K series of games are quite interesting as they are often much cheaper than you’d expect a next-generation title to be, but without sacrificing any quality. Me thinks that E.A. could learn a thing or two…

Every player’s play style has been captured for the first time in a simulation game, with trademark celebrations as well as shot and dribble styles been accurately recreated.

Click here to buy this XBox 360 title for just £4.99 from ShopTo. In fact, you could use the ShopTo £1 voucher and get it for just £3.99 - even better!

Burnout: Paradise £19.99

Burnout: Paradise is different from many other driving games, as it features an open world where you can pretty much race wherever you want. There’s also no loading screens, online lobbies, or game menus - this is because the makers of the game hate unnecessary clutter with a passion.

Races and events are started by simply pulling up at any of the 120 traffic lights around Paradise City and applying the accelerator and brake at the same time. A nice little extra thing is that you can also get bikes to race on by simply connecting to the online network and downloading an update.

If you fancy the PlayStation 3 version, click here to get it for £19.99 from Gamestation. The good news extends to XBox 360 owners as well, as they can get their release for the same price by clicking here.
