Full Description and Features
Bursting onto the scene for the Nintendo 3DS is Super Mario 3D Land. Bringing in the joys of 3D roaming that we've been used to for the past few years, yet with the 2D side-scrolling games' elements, it proves to be the most in-tune Mario game with both new and old versions.
The linear games are a hark back at the 1980s classic games on the NES yet with super-cool 3D graphics and capabilities that see the 3DS engine really show its worth, the latest Mario game is set to hit with world by storm. Using the same lives system as previous games, whereby if Mario is hurt he shrinks and if he is hit again a life is lost, and there are power-ups available too, such as Tanooki Mario with a racoon's tail that helps him fly; turning him into a statue with the Statue Leaf; and the Propellor Box, which helps Mario zoom to high-up places as we saw in New Super Mario Bros for the Wii.
As well as collecting coins throughout the levels, there is a Boomerang Mario that helps him kill opponents and there is the Invincibility Leaf which helps resist attacks. The game uses autostereoscopic technology, which means it's possible to perceive depth during the game and makes climbing and jumping over obstacles more easy. As a super-bonus, it's possible to play Luigi, who has a different way of getting around the levels and needs to be handled differently to Mario.
The story in 3D Land is all about Princess Peach's castle/tree that lost all of its leaves in a storm. The Super Leaves that came off the tree make Tanooki tails for anything living that touches them and as Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach, it's up to Mario to find her and get her back to the castle where she belongs..

Latest Super Mario 3D Land News
Here you'll also see details of a great Limited Edition 3D bundle coming out in early December, the Ice White Nintendo 3DS with Super Mario 3D Land. This is a Special Edition 3DS and is unlikely to be sold into the new year, in the same way that the Red Nintendo Anniversary DSi XL is not sold any more, so if you want one of these you probably only have a few weeks to purchase. This could cause stock shortages, but this is yet to be seen.
