The Flame Red 3DS, also known as Metallic Red, wasn't one of the first 3DS colours to be released when the 3D console was lunched amidst much fanfare earlier in 2011. Initially the 2 colours were Aqua Blue and Cosmos Black. It could be argued that Nintendo were testing the waters with these 2 'conservative' colours to see how sales went and set the price accordingly. It was only after initial sales weren't as high as some people expected and a £50 price reduction was applied to the console that the popular Red colour was released to the UK market in the Autumn. It is expected that sales of 3Ds especially the newer colour will be high in the run up to christmas, now that the price is set at a more reasonable figure and the obvious retail surge that happens this time of year.

The Flame Red 3Ds console was only launched in the autumn, so is likely to be high on many gamers shopping lists, especially as the price of the Nintendo 3DS console has been reduced from the initial pricing guide by some £50 or so.
