After a shaky start on the gaming market, the Nintendo 3DS finally took off with a price reduction in Summer 2011, together with the introduction of a couple of new colours. The concept of a 3D gaming console without the need for 3D glasses has proved to be successful, and Nintendo have have now taken it one stage further by combining the 3D technology with the larger screen size enjoyed by the Nintendo DSi XL to come up with the 3Ds XL, a brand new console to be released in 3 colours on 28 July 2012. The three colours initially available for the Nintendo 3DS XL are silver/black, blue/black and red/black. Here we detail news, reviews and price details for each of these to assist you in making your decision which colour you prefer and indeed which retailer to purchase from.

Nintendo 3DS XL Description
Over the years, Nintendo has provided us with the best quality handheld games consoles on the gaming market with the DS range. With the previous releases of the original Nintendo DS, DS Light , DSi, DSi XL and 3DS, the newest version of the Nintendo DS console range is soon to be unveiled on the gaming markets. The new Nintendo 3DS XL console makes the 3D experience even bigger as the new console measures 156mm x 93mm x 22mm. Compared to the original Nintendo 3DS that is over 2cm longer and just under 2cm taller to give the gamer the ultimate gaming adventure.
As with the 3DS consoles, there are 2 screens to enjoy. The top screen is the largest, and displays in 3D at whatever setting you require to suit, whereas the bottom one is used mainly as a touchpad screen. The main functionality of the 3DS XL is the same as the Nintendo 3DS, however, in addition to the increased size, the 3DS XL comes with an extended battery life making for an enhanced performance. A 4GB SD card is also included with the console so games and videos can be downloaded and stored.
Available in 3 different colour combinations, the newest addition to the DS range can now be Pre-Ordered from gaming stores and supermarkets in the UK before the release date of 28 July 2012. At launch the 3 colours available for the 3DS XL will be silver and black, blue and black and red and black. Pre Order sales suggest that the Silver version is likely to be the most popular, however, this is probably due to none of the current 3DS models being this colour.

Latest 3DS XL News
For the first time in a console sale the box containing the 3DS XL will not contain a charger. Nintendo have made improvements in this model to ensure the 3DS XL does not need charging every night, and presumably they are banking on the fact that most customers will already own a 3DS (as the adapters for the 3DS will work fine on the latest model).
